There are lots of benefits to choosing an outboard over other engines, but when you start looking at your options, there are a few things you’ll want to keep in mind. Horsepower

 

You’re probably already thinking about horsepower. Of course, it’s important to make sure your engine is strong enough to actually push your boat around. Keep in mind that bigger isn’t always better. Instead of thinking “bigger is better,” consult your owner’s manual about what to look for in an outboard’s output.
